On Saturday June 4th, 2024 the Lindenhurst Fire Department hosted the 64th Annual Long Island Invitational Parade and Tournament. The Department was lead by Chief of Department Collins. This year the parade had two Grand Marshals, Ex-Captain Walter Kienle from Union Hook & Ladder Company 1 and Firefighter Floyd Chivvis from Breslau Engine Company 1 who both were recognized this year for having 70 years of active and dedicated service to their companies and the department. Floyd was driven by his son Ex-Captain George Chivvis from Breslau Engine Company 1 who has 40 years of service. This year also saw three different German Volunteer Fire Departments from Stadt Oberviechtach, Waldorf and Pffafenhofen march in the parade. The departments were presented with Trophies and proclamations from Village Mayor Lavorata. The Freeport Fire Department hosted the visiting departments during their stay.
